TFL Power Rankings Week Five

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Five weeks down and seven to go in the TFL and the pack continues to spread out. It is now clear who the worst team is in this league and who the legitimate playoff contenders are!

10. Shreveport Knights (0-4)

This is a year to forget in Shreveport! Through five weeks the Knights have been held scoreless, with three of them coming in front of a home crowd. If the Knights can’t get it done at home, don’t expect them to be able to do much else on the road. Shreveport will likely be the first team eliminated from playoff contention in 2021.

Next Game: @ Arkansas Silverbacks (3-2) 4/24

9. North Texas Rams (1-3)

Well, it wasn’t pretty Rams fans, but your team pulled through to get win number one in team history! Will this victory be the spark that this team needs to put up some points and more importantly get into the win column?

Next Game: Dallas Bulldogs (2-2) 4/17

8. Ouachita Reapers (0-4) -1

The Reapers have to be scratching their heads after letting another win slip between their fingers. Ouachita is so close to getting over that hump, can this be the week as the Reapers square off against the Xtra for the second time this season.

Next Game: @ Arkansas Xtra (1-2) 4/17

7. Arkansas Xtra (1-2) -2

The Xtra is in a bit of a tailspin after dropping their last two games. This team was considered a playoff contender coming into 2021, with that loss to the Gladiators, Arkansas on the outside looking in right now. This next game against the Reapers will be crucial to maintain touching distance with the postseason.

Next Game: Ouachita Reapers (0-4) 4/17

6. Dallas Bulldogs (2-2)

The Bulldogs haven’t been able to get any consistency going over the first five weeks of the season. Dallas is still in playoff position and a second win against the North Texas Rams will give the team a two-game cushion over the fourth spot. The Bulldogs have plenty of time to right the ship.

Next Game: @ North Texas Rams (1-3) 4/17

5. Jonesboro Gladiators (2-2) +3

Turns out the Gladiators are much better than first thought! The Gladiators in the past two weeks have shot up from the cellar to the playoffs with two big wins! Jonesboro goes into the bye week the hottest team in the TFL! Can the Gladiators keep this energy over the final run to the playoffs?

Next Game: Arkansas Boltz (3-0) 4/24

4. Arkansas Silverbacks (3-2)

The Silverbacks rebounded nicely with a hard-fought victory over the Dallas Bulldogs in week five to get back over .500 on the season and more importantly, hold on to second place in the Red Division. The Silverbacks have a big game against the first-place Dragons in week six, a team that beat them in week one 53-14. This game should be a good measuring stick to see how much progress Arkansas has made.

Next Game: NETX Dragons (4-0) 4/17

3. Arkansas Punishers (3-0)

The Punishers found a way to remain unbeaten in week five, after letting an inferior Ouachita Reapers team off the mat late. The Punishers have looked sloppy at times in the three games they have played, but this week the mistakes will have to be at a minimum as the division leader Arkansas Boltz are next on the schedule for the first “Rumble in the Rock.”

Next Game: @ Arkansas Boltz (3-0) 4/17

2. Arkansas Boltz (3-0)

The Boltz had week five off after a schedule mix up. If the Boltz were smart they would have used the off week to prepare for the battle coming from the team across the river. It should be a good one to determine who will be first in the Black Division.

Next Game: Arkansas Punishers (3-0) 4/17

1. NETX Dragons (4-0)

Not much to say on the Dragons from week five as they had the week off. The Dragons have an opportunity to create a two-game lead over second place and have a great chance of locking up a playoff birth in year one.

Next Game: @ Arkansas Silverbacks (3-2) 4/17
