BENTONVILLE, Ark. — As the 2021 4SFL season nears, it’s the annual tradition to release the Southern Sports Network’s Power Rankings.
Check back each week of the 4SFL season, as the teams move up down the power rankings!
10. Kansas City Legion
Well somebody has to be last, and with the lack of sample size, that honor falls to the Legion. Kansas City has an opportunity to shoot up the rankings with some competitive play.
Next Game: Muskogee Stars (0-0)
9. ArkLa Ravens
The Ravens haven’t played since 2019 and to make matters worse are essentially starting over in Junction City, Arkansas. When ArkLa last competed the team went 8-1 and won its division. If this team can rekindle that mojo, look for them to be in contention for the playoffs.
Next Game: Tulsa Gators (0-0)
8. NWA Generals
NWA had a rough first year in 2020, but 2021 looks to be a year of improvement. Not only do the Generals have a new home field, but it seems the team has a new found hunger. Keep an eye on this side as they try to pick up the team’s first win.
Next Game: @ Wichita Skyhawks (0-0)
7. Oklahoma Bison
The Bison, like the Legion are a first-year team in the 4SFL. The difference between the two is the Bison have some previous playing experience in 8-man football last summer. This team was competitive in that league last year, look for them to continue that out of the gate in 2021.
Next Game: Joplin Crusaders (0-0)
6. Tahlelquah Vipers
The Vipers come into 2021 with higher expectations than 2020. The Vipers finished best of the first year squads with two victories in the regular season and a upset win in the first round of the playoffs. Now the Vipers are focused on bridging the gap to the mid-field.
Next Game: @ OKC Bears (0-0)
5. Joplin Crusaders
The Joplin Crusaders had a great regular season in 2020, going 4-2, but everything started to slip away at the end of the season. It seems the Crusaders will have a tough season ahead of them to get back into the top three teams in this league.
Next Game: @ Oklahoma Bison (0-0)
4. Wichita Skyhawks
Wichita, simply put, can be a dark horse this season. Apart from the eventual champions in the Bears, no team had a stronger finish to 2020. Expect the Skyhawks to be around come championship time.
Next Game: NWA Generals (0-0)
3. Muskogee Stars
If you were to look at how the Stars finished 2020, you might be confused as to why we’ve ranked them as high as third. If the rumors are true about what Muskogee has done in the offseason, then quietly this group has transformed into a superteam. Will the Monstars be able to back it up on the field?
Next Game: @ Kansas City Legion (0-0)
2. Tulsa Gators
Tulsa has come very close in the previous two seasons to dethroning the Bears as champs, but have fallen short. Will 2021 be the season the Gators break through?
1. OKC Bears
Was there any doubt? The Bears are back-to-back champions of the 4SFL and are already clearing space in the trophy case for a third. Kevin Cox and the Bears will remain hungry as they attempt to go for a three-peat!
