BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Four State Football League is underway in 2021! It seems this year might be business as usual, as a lot of the superior teams flexed their muscles in victories over lesser opponents.
In-between the preseason rankings and now, the 4SFL has had two teams fold, the Bison and Legion. To make everything easier, those two teams will not appear in the power rankings from here on. You will note that each team will have two wins already because of this.
8. NWA Generals (2-1)
Well it was a bit of déjà vu for the Generals as they got smacked 30-0 by the Wichita Skyhawks in the Sunflower State. NWA is yet to win a game on the field through eight games. Will they ever win?
Next Game: @ Tahlequah Vipers (2-1) 3/27
7. ArkLa Ravens (2-1)
It was a rough welcome back to the 4SFL for the Ravens. Early on, ArkLa was putting the Tulsa Gators on upset alert, but it wasn’t enough for the Ravens to secure the victory, falling 39-18. The Ravens will get another top team in Muskogee in week two.
Next Game: Muskogee Stars (2-0) 3/27
6. Tahlequah Vipers (2-1)
The Vipers showed a great improvement over the last meeting against the Bears. Last time the Vipers got rolled 66-6, but in week one the Vipers had a chance to pull off the improbable. Ultimately it wasn’t enough, losing 10-6. Tahlequah showed a lot of fight that could see them trending into the mid-pack come playoff time!
Next Game: NWA Generals (2-1) 3/27
5. Joplin Crusaders (2-0)
The Crusaders are the luckiest team in the 4SFL in 2021 so far. Joplin’s first two games were against the now defunct Bison and Legion, so they won’t have to play until April!
Next Game: @ NWA Generals (2-1) 4/10
4. Muskogee Stars (2-0)
Muskogee had the week off due to the Legion packing up shop. Not much to report on the Stars as they get ready for their first game down in Junction City, Arkansas, against the Ravens.
Next Game: @ ArkLa Ravens (2-1) 3/27
3. Wichita Skyhawks (3-0)
Wichita’s season got underway with another big blowout win over the NWA Generals, 30-0. The Skyhawks will have the next two weeks off, as their next game is against the extinct Oklahoma Bison. The Skyhawks’ schedule lines up for them to be in contention for one of the top four seeds come June.
Next Game: Tahlequah Vipers (2-1) 4-10
2. Tulsa Gators (3-0)
The Gators had a slow start in Junction City, Arkansas, going down multiple scores early. Tulsa eventually rallied to win handily, 39-18, the mark of a team that has overcome adversity numerous times. If the Gators like adversity, they are in for a whole boat-load as they do battle against their big brother, the OKC Bears.
Next Game: @ OKC Bears (3-0) 3/27
1. OKC Bears (3-0)
The Bears remain at the top spot, a place they have become accustom to over their three-year reign over the 4SFL. The champs looked human for the first time in a long time against the fledgling Tahlequah Vipers, pulling out the victory 10-6. The Bears can’t play like that in week two as a hungry Gator team comes to town to come for the crown.
Next Game: Tulsa Gators (3-0) 3/27
